-Fred HAVENS has severed his connection with Bates & Co's store, and shaken the dust of Grayling from his feet, and gone with E. C. KENDRICK to Dawes County, Nebraska, to see what he can find. It is not decided whether he will turn cow-boy or enter some other line of business, but whatever he may do or wherever he may go he will carry with him the best wishes of all who know him. The most of his life has been passed in this village, and he has grown from a nice boy into a strong clean man, well equipped by education and association for any position he may aspire to. He will be greatly missed and his going regretted. (28 Sep 1899)

-Fred HAVENS has gone to Chicago, where he will take a complete course in Civil Engineering. While he has apparently recovered from his fractured spine, he will not be able to do heavy work for a long time, and therefore will fit himself for other business. We wish him unlimited success. (2 Jan 1902)

-Fred HAVENS and wife went to Johannesburg Tuesday morning, for a short visit with sister Musa and the kids. (5 Sep 1907)

-Married, in Chicago, Aug. 26, Fred L. HAVENS and Miss Margret CALLAHAN. The happy couple arrived here the 27th and gave his family and friends a genuine surprise, though it was a happy one, and they are receiving the heartiest of congratulations from all our people, who claim Fred as a Grayling boy. His vacation is so short that their stay will be brief, but it is expected this will be their rendervous for future rest and recreation. (5 Sep 1907)

-Fred HAVENS and wife came home from Chicago last week for their summer vacation. Fred has grown to almost a giant, notwithstanding his fractured spine received a few years ago on the R. R. in Nebraska. Of course he is already feasting on trout. (12 Aug 1909)
